Ralph Rapson, Architect as Chair Designer Nov. 4 – Dec. 4
November 4th 2011 – December 4 2011
Opening Reception, Nov. 4 6-8 PM
ARCHER, Washington, DC’s premier 20th Century Design + Modern Furnishings showroom is pleased to announce Ralph Rapson: The Architect as Chair Designer, the first exhibition dedicated to the furniture designs of award-winning American architect Ralph Rapson. The exhibition will feature highly sought-after vintage Rapson chairs, produced in the 1940s for H.G. Knoll, as well as sketches – crafted in Rapson’s famous and inimitable style – for dozens of unrealized furniture designs. Rapson’s engaging chair drawings, nearly all of which include a fashionably clad inhabitant, visually convey both the utility and comfort of his creations.
In addition to presenting a historic view of Rapson’s boundless creativity and imaginative designs, the event will showcase chairs from Rapson-Inc.’s new production line of Rapson classics, available exclusively at ARCHER.
Curated by Architectural Historian and co-author of Ralph Rapson: Sixty Years of Modern Design, Jane King Hession.
ARCHER is proud to be your exclusive Rapson-Inc. distributor.
